WHAT IS AWAKENING?
In my experience it is waking up to all the pain, hurt, emotional baggage, including all the places we have created barriers towards love for ourselves. It is waking up to our shadow and bringing our shadow into the light of love, not to get rid of our shadow, but to love it, as we learn to love all aspects of our being.
It is noticing all the places we have hidden from ourselves, separated ourselves from God and knowing we can never be seperate. It's unleashing all the abandonment, worthlessness, but mostly it's about facing the pain. The pain of being in this body, of cutting parts of ourselves off in order to make ourselves fit. Its about healing the abandoned teenager, the abused little girl/boy, the self sufficient independent women/man who thinks she/he has to do it all, the lonely single mother/father, the divine masculine and feminine.
Its about healing all the deeply buried wounds that have over the years began to form something that resembles the layers of an onion over our soul. Its about delicately peeling each of those bandages off and saying I Love You! Its about realising we are none of those and at the same time all of those labels we have given ourselves. Its about knowing that we are not our job, our body, our thoughts, emotions or even our feelings. Its about knowing we can not be contained by a society based on lies and fallacy.
Awakening is staring deep into the eyes of the tiger and not running from whatever is seen. Its about seeing all your hurts, wounds, fears, experiences, the labels and noticing the healing that is played out in the world through all your relationships, through your children, through your friends, families, acquaintances and strangers in the street. Its about being brave enough, courageous enough to face every single challenge that comes your way. Its about holding the space for yourself and others to feel and heal their pain.
It is not a walk in the park, its not a bunch of roses, its not easy. However along with the deep deep pain, comes fathomless joy, boundless contentment, a depth of love that holds the entire universe in its arms. A meeting with God's grace that is beyond the wildest possible imagination of what is possible for a human being here on this earth. There is also hope, a hope that in this awakening there is a possibility for great change for every one. There is a peace that moves though and holds everything especially the challenges. There is a peace so deep it would fill the hearts and minds of all those on this beloved planet.
Awakening is a destructive process, it is not going to let you hold onto anything that you believe or think yourself to be. It is not even going to let you hold onto life or control it, for you will know there is no control and that doing becomes an effortless act of God through your being in service. It won't let you hold onto your friends or family. Everything is taken away, everything is destroyed so that the new, true and real Self can make its Self known. So that you can exist as God in form, without the chains that hold you to this world, without the chains that keep you caught up in the material. Everything is destroyed so that you can live anew as the expansive divine consciousness you are. It is a rebirth.
Your cries will be for the loss of everything you once knew, but you will laugh in the face of your suffering and the absurdity of the life that controlled your every move and bow in the presence of God.
The gratitude that you will feel will grip every cell in your body and permeate every experience the "good" and the "bad" will contain the deepest level of understanding and gratitude, for you will know your Self as if for the first time as you come home to the truth of your being.
It is worth every tear, it is worth every heart break, every sorrow, every dark knight of the soul, it is worth the loss of control, to know heaven on earth. To know that you are every thing and no-thing, that you are the manifest and the un-manifest, that you are yin and yang, heaven and earth, the real and unreal. To know you are the dance of all of eternity and the ever expanding mystery.
