4 Consequences of being cut off from your Sensuality
The great novelist D.H. Lawrence wrote bodily the human race is dying. Our bodies are like great uprooted trees with their roots in the air. We must plant ourselves again in the universe. 

If you're wondering why you feel disconnected from life and feelings of aliveness, creativity, joy, love and peace, it's because you can't feel your body. 

And you think this is normal. 

It's often only when the body is in pain or when we get sick that we finally pause and slow down and start to listen in. Or maybe we rush into finding relief and a solution for the pain and dis-ease to go away as quick as possible, missing out on the wise messages our body is trying to convey about us and our lives. 
 
The good news is that there is a way of 'planting ourselves in the universe',  as we learn how to pause and slow down and experience the actual sensations in our body.

Why is it so incredibly important to live in the felt sense of your body? 
 
When we're primarily living in our mind, we tend to observe our physical form from a distance. We're typically unaware of bodily sensations. At most, we're feeling only the sensations on the surface of our body. 
 
So, when we're out of touch with a more full felt sense of our body, we're being cut off from our Sensuality. Our SenseYouAll-ity. 
 
I call it the lost IQ and this loss has huge consequences for our lives, here's an overview:
 
1. We’re unable to tune into the intelligence in our body that actually lets us know how to take good care of ourselves. Scientists tell us that the brain is connected to huge networks of neurons in the heart and the gut. So, we don’t think only with our head. There’s critical information in the whole body that we can pay attention to and learn from. When we start to learn the language of the body we can start to listen to the wise messages that are essential for our well-being. 

2. The disconnection from our body limits our ability to sense and comprehend what’s going on in others. The mirror neurons that enable us to be attuned to others are only activated if we have a degree of conscious connections with our own sensations and emotions. Mindfulness of our body is essential in being empathically connected with others. 

3. When we’re disconnected from our bodies, we don’t feel a visceral sense of belonging to the natural world, to the elements, to the land, to other creatures. So, when our roots are in the air, we end up not only not taking good care of ourselves but also not taking good care of our larger body, our planet. 

4. Pulling away from the body means that we’re pulling away from the domain in which we feel love, joy, empathy, creativity, intuition, empowerment. All the experiences that are most central to living a full life. 
 
It's 'as simple' as that. 

We need to plant ourselves again and again in this living universe.
